MONEE – "Musher Mania" is coming to Monee on Jan. 10.
The event features snow dogs and dog sled racing. It will be from noon to 4 p.m. at the Monee Reservoir, 27341 Ridgeland Ave., Monee.
The Forest Preserve District is presenting the free event with the Siberian Husky Club of Greater Chicago for the 21st year. The event includes presentations about the Siberian husky, an Iditarod dog sled race, and a demonstration of mushing skills.
If there is no snow, the event will go on using wheeled sleds.
Dog run demonstrations will be at noon, 1:45 p.m. and 3 p.m. A husky presentation is scheduled for 1 p.m. Snowshoe races will take place at 2:15 p.m.
Registration is not required for those attending the event. But those attending should leave their dogs at home for safety's sake, forest preserve officials said in a news release. Food and beverages will be available.
