JOLIET – Joliet Township Animal Control of Joliet has been awarded a $20,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to purchase a Pet ID engraving machine and offer free and low cost spay/neuters to animals in our community.
Joliet Township Animal Control is a government based organization that protects the community, ensures animals are treated appropriately and adopt animals – strays and owner surrenders.
Services are provided to Joliet, Joliet Township, Crest Hill and Rockdale. In 2014, Joliet Township Animal Control adopted 922 animals, returned 486 animals to their owner and transferred 223 animals to rescue groups.
The grant was made possible through the Petco Foundation’s annual Helping Heroes fundraising campaign, in partnership with Natural Balance Pet Foods.
The free engraved personalized tags will be offered to all animals adopted or returned to their owners. The public can also purchase a tag for $5 for their animal.
