AURORA – Police have found the man accused of shooting a teenager during a gang-related brawl Sunday at a Joliet bar.
Anthony Luna, 26, was taken into custody by Aurora police about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Joliet Deputy Police Chief Al Roechner.
"We received a tip he was in Aurora and arranged for that department to locate him," Roechner said.
Luna was being sought on charges of attempted murder, mob action and aggravated battery.
Luna allegedly shot a 19-year-old man in the head and torso during a brawl at Los Diaz Bar & Liquors, 674 Meeker Ave. The victim remained in critical condition Wednesday morning at Silver Cross Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police reports.
The incident began about 7 p.m. when rival gangs encountered each other in the beer garden outside the bar, Roechner said.
Shortly after the shooting, police stopped two cars in the area and matched the occupants to witness descriptions, Roechner said. Serafin Castellanos, 35, of Oswego, Anthony Grant, 19, of Aurora, Robby L. Patton, 25, of Aurora, Austin R. Runde, 26, of Aurora, Adrian Vega, 19, of Aurora, and Marcos Briceno, 35, of Joliet, were arrested.
Arthur G. Jiminez, 27, of Aurora, was also identified as a suspect and picked up by Aurora police later that night. Marcus T. Alexander, 30, of the 400 block of Oneida Street in Joliet, was located by Joliet tactical officers on Monday night.
Alejandro Lara-Leyva, 19, was picked up by Naperville police Tuesday night, Roechner said.
All of them are charged with aggravated battery and mob action.
