Program aims to ease registration process for Troy district families

JOLIET – A new student information portal is streamlining registration and other student information at Troy School District 30-C.

In October, the district upgraded its student information system to Skyward, a family and student access portal. With registration continuing for the next school year, staff and parents are finding it easier to browse the new portal.

“It’s very much all-encompassing,” said Liz Boyles, the district’s information services manager. “It has all of the student data. Parents have easy access to each student. They can pay student registration fees, put money on children’s lunch accounts and access grades.”

Among the perks of the new system is a sorting function allowing parents to see the information for each of their children in the district, as opposed to searching different schools. Parents also can change information for any of their children in the district.

Boyles said about the only thing parents can’t do in the new system is officially change a student’s address. Such changes require confirmation by Troy, to ensure the student is living in-district.

Building secretaries, often the first people to hear parent feedback, have told Boyles parents are generally happy about the new system. And the district has how-to guides for Skyward at its website, http://troywebs.troy30c.org.
