Plano explodes late to beat Peotone

PLANO – Peotone and Plano were locked in a scoreless battle with less than six minutes left Friday night.

Plano, however, scored all three of its touchdowns in less than five minutes and went on to win the Interstate Eight Large game, 21-6.

Plano was up, 21-0, before Peotone quarterback Kale Maupin hit Alex Panning with a 12-yard pass with 29.3 seconds left. Maupin ended with 89 yards passing and Chandler Gartner finished with 113 yards rushing. Peotone (2-4, 1-3) had 213 total yards of offense to Plano’s 268.

HIGHLIGHTS

Bolingbrook 37, Stagg 7: After a Bolingbrook fumble resulted in a first-quarter Stagg touchdown, the Raiders (3-3, 2-2) rebounded in a big way. Bolingbrook scored a field goal with a minute remaining in the quarter, then dominated for the remainder of the SouthWest Suburban Blue game.

Joe Coates had a 41-yard scamper to put Bolingbrook up, 10-7. Coates connected with Kendall Smith on a 24-yard touchdown and Jaylen Griffin had a 15-yard TD run. Jazontae Howard’s 45-yard burst put the Raiders on the 7, and Jeremiah Lebron finished the drive with a TD.

Izayah Green-May led the defense with back-to-back sacks in the second quarter.
