Rialto board calls special meeting on manager Green's contract

JOLIET – The Rialto Square Theatre board has called a special meeting for Monday to discuss contract renewal for General Manager Randy Green.

The general manager’s contract is the one item listed on the meeting’s agenda, which will be at 4 p.m. in the theater administrative office at 15 E. Van Buren St.

Joliet City Councilman Pat Mudron, the council’s liaison to the Rialto, said he learned of the meeting by email but believes it is being held because Green wants an early renewal of his contract.

“I know his contract was coming up at the end of the year. He was interested in getting it settled early,” Mudron said.

Green was the subject of public scrutiny during the controversy over a new marquee that had to be scrapped mid-construction because of opposition to the design. But he has had public support from the Rialto board, which commended him for his composure at City Council budget meetings during which one council member grilled Green while questioning city funding for the theater.
