SHOREWOOD – Troy Shorewood Elementary School will soon welcome a new principal.
The District 30-C school board on Wednesday approved Colleen Connolly for the position.
Connolly has been a district employee for 11 years, according to a Troy news release.
“She’s just a great fit for Shorewood,” Superintendent Todd Koehl said.
Connolly started working in the district as a special education teacher at Troy Middle School and is assistant principal at William B. Orenic Intermediate School, according to the news release. She holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from Governors State University.
Her appointment to the new role was passed by the board with four members voting in favor and one – Catherine Besler – abstaining, Koehl said.
Connolly will replace retiring Principal Julie Mancione.
“I am proud and honored to be the next in line of great principals of Shorewood,” Connolly said in the news release.
She will begin transitioning into her new job immediately, Koehl said, but will officially start as principal July 1. Her salary will be $86,400 a year.
Also Wednesday, the board approved several other staffing appointments, Koehl said, as well as resignations, nonrenewals, reassignments and the dismissal of one teacher.
