JOLIET – It will be Lego Mania on Sunday at the Joliet Area Historical Museum.
The museum will be holding Lego Mania, a fundraiser that includes exhibits, games and even a performance, all with Lego themes.
"It's an all-ages event," said Liz McNeil, special events manager for the museum.
Vendors for Jamberry Nails and Pampered Chef will be at the museum for those looking for a Lego break. There also will be a buffet lunch. But mostly it will be Legos.
"Everything is somehow connected to Legos," McNeil said.
That includes Lego bowling, Lego beanbag and special characters playing roles from the movies "Frozen" and "Star Wars," for which there are Lego kits.
"We'll have Lego enthusiasts coming in and displaying their creations," McNeil said. "There's also going to be a find-the-Lego-man scavenger hunt in the museum."
The Joliet Catholic Academy improvisational group will present a skit with a Lego theme. Also, children will get Lego party favors that they can build and wear. And, there will be a corner of the museum where children can build their own Lego creations.
Tickets are selling well but still available, McNeil said Monday. Those interested can purchase tickets at www.jolietmuseum.org or call McNeil at 815-723-5201 ext. 221.
If tickets are still available Sunday, they can also be purchased at the door.
Proceeds benefit the museum's Education Department, which provides museum tours and programs about local history for students.
Lego Mania is back after a one-year interruption, McNeil said. The event was not held last year, but the fundraiser had been held for several years before then.
