Route 6 in Channahon reopens after semi vs. motorcycle crash

CHANNAHON – Route 6 in Channahon was subject to closures for several hours after a crash Monday night involving injuries and a large amount of diesel fuel spilling, according to law enforcement.

The crash occurred about 6 p.m. on Route 6 west of Interstate 55, Illinois State Police Sgt. Brad Sprague said.

The injuries and spill were the result of a semitrailer and motorcycle crash, Sprague said.

The motorcycle driver was in serious condition, Channahon police stated via email.

Route 6 was closed in both directions for more than an hour after the incident, and the roadway’s westbound lanes remained closed until almost 9 p.m., Channahon police posted on social media.

A large amount of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway, and crews were treating injuries and combating the spill, Channahon police stated.
