Troy Special Olympic Athletes score well in spring games

Troy Community School District 30-C is proud to congratulate its Special Olympic athletes on their fine performances at the Area 7 Spring Games culmination event for track and field.

Placing were Megan Arnold, who took first in the 50-meter run; Mark Harrelson, who took first places in the 100-meter run and the softball throw; Seren Jenkins, who took first place in the 100-meter run and second place in the softball throw; Zoe Barnes, who took first in softball throw and third in the 50-meter run; and Jonah Gonda, who took first in softball throw and fifth in the 100-meter run.

Lilly Jameson took second in both the 50-meter run and the softball throw; Caroline Collins took second in softball throw; Carly Ruddy took second in the 100-meter run and third in softball throw; Michael Horn took third in both the 50-meter run and the softball throw; Sarah Schutter took third in the softball throw; and Ashley Castillo took fourth place in the softball throw.

The first place athletes qualified for state, which was held June 11.

The team’s volunteer coaches are Kate Cannova, Eva Rahn, Karen Storcz, Karen Pastern, Emily Simplinski, Kelley Minogue, Kelly Frumento, Ed Andersen, Misty Dillon, Kris Ruddy, Kristy Grabowski and Sandy Radzimanowski.
