SHOREWOOD – Grade school students at Troy Crossroads Elementary School in Shorewood are embarking on a new program this year designed to enhance their math curricula.

With “Number Sense,” students are challenged to a math quiz during morning announcements. The classroom that gets the right answer earns a Math Whiz Award.

On “Fluency Fridays,” students might go on a number scavenger hunt, play numerical bingo or buzz games, or work on iPad math challenges.

Throughout the week, students also vote on their favorite colors, sports, fall foods and other subjects and tally the votes into numbers, pie charts, bar graphs and histograms.

The Number Sense programs extend through all classes, even music, library, art, P.E. and lunch time.
