GOOSE LAKE TOWNSHIP – Fire struck a house at 3835 Candyland lane on Tuesday.
A woman was home at the time but got out of the house without injury, said Lt. Nick Doerfler with the Coal City Fire Protection District.
The fire was first reported at 3:43 p.m.
Damage to the house and contents was estimated at $200,000, Doerfler said. The fire itself was contained by firefighters, but there was smoke damage throughout the house, he said.
The cause of the fire was under investigation by Mutual Aid Box System Division 15 as of 5 p.m. Tuesday. Thirteen fire departments responded to the fire.
