New Lenox high school honors outstanding students at Academic Honors Night

NEW LENOX – On Feb. 28, students, families, faculty, and staff gathered in the Lincoln-Way Central auditorium to celebrate outstanding Knight students for Academic Honors Night.

To begin the event, Principal Steve Provis introduced his staff: Beth McNamara, associate principal of curriculum; Alex Petrakis, associate principal of discipline; Michele Newswander, director of PPS; and Matthew Lyke, athletic director.

McNamara then thanked families in attendance. She also updated parents regarding the upcoming SAT.

McNamara was followed by Michelle Hobbs, who congratulated Mu Alpha Theta members; Mu Alpha Theta is a national high school and junior college mathematics club. One hundred and twenty-four students stood to be recognized for their participation.

Provis then honored those who earned the highest academic honor for a Lincoln-Way student: Summa Cum Laude. Summa Cum Laude indicates that a student has earned a GPA of 5.0 or higher.
