When I first arrived in the Joliet area and was meeting people around town, it was a great introduction. I learned about the area’s history, its power brokers and the issues that are important to the community.
I also learned about how people read our content and how they felt about it.
One piece of feedback I heard then, and have heard repeated since, is that it’s really hard to read our website.
It’s not unique to us, but we had pop-up ads and autoplay videos and surveys and links at the bottom of stories that ... well ... aren’t news.
That’s where the good news comes in. That stuff will be gone.
Over the coming weeks, you’ll see continued improvements to our website, including a redesign of the site itself.
If you prefer to read us in a print-like format, we’ll have you covered with an improved online edition of the printed newspaper, too.
We want to reward our loyal subscribers with more value and less intrusion as you come to us to read news.
In addition, starting next month, subscribers will receive The Neighborhood Tourist, a premium local, glossy magazine featuring all the best things to see and do in and around our area. With your membership, you will receive up to four Neighborhood Tourist magazines a year.
Along with these improvements, we’re revising our subscription plan. There will be a letter sent to subscribers soon with the details. If you haven’t received it within the next week or so, please call our customer service hotline at 800-589-9363.
Our goal remains bringing you the most local news and information in the Joliet area and throughout Will and Grundy counties, both in print and online.
You asked us for these changes. We listened. Now we are interested in your thoughts about the improved online experience, along with any ideas you have on making our websites better. To share your thoughts, send us an email at email@example.com.
