Temporary, nighttime lane closures are taking place on Interstate 55 between Weber Road and Willow Springs Road, according to a news release from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
The closures were set to being Monday, weather permitting. They are being done for a resurfacing and patching project.
The closures will take place at various locations along I-55 between Weber and Willow Springs roads.
The scope of the project includes resurfacing, roadway patching, bridge deck repairs and drainage improvements. It is expected to be completed in the fall.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through the area. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment.
