Public invited to state music festival at Troy Middle School

PLAINFIELD – Eleven middle school bands and19 choirs will compete at a state music festival to be held at Troy Middle School April 29, and the public is invited to attend.

Competing in the Illinois Grade School Music Association’s Northern Division State Festival will be students from Richland, Kelvin Grove, Blackhawk, Olympia, John F.. Kennedy, Glenside, Columbia and Prairie schools, including the Troy Community District 30-C groups, Troy sixth grade intermediate band,Troy Middle School concert band, Troy Middle School symphonic band, Troy sixth grade choir, Troy concert choir and Troy varsity choir.

According to Troy Band Boosters President Nicki Lozada, the competition will include1,380 musicians plus their directors, families and fans.

Admission is $1 per person. The event also serves as a fundraiser for the Troy band program, and T-shirts, programs, concessions and keepsake musical roses may be purchased at the event.

The IGSMA Northern Division State Festival will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 29, at Troy Middle School, 5800 W. Theodore St., Plainfield.
