Chat with the Chiefs to be
held Wednesday in Plainfield

PLAINFIELD – The next Chat with the Chiefs open forum will take place 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Plainfield Fire Protection District Headquarters, 23748 W. 135th St., Plainfield, according to a Plainfield Police Department news release.

The event is hosted by Chief Dave Riddle of the Plainfield Fire Protection District, Chief Mike Veseling of the Oswego Fire Protection District and Chief John Konopek of the Plainfield Police Department

The interactive community meeting allows the public to hear about happenings within the Plainfield fire district, the Oswego fire district, the Plainfield Police Department and the Plainfield Emergency Management Agency, and to discuss and ask questions related to public safety in Plainfield.

Chat with the Chiefs occurs quarterly throughout the year at either the Plainfield police or Plainfield fire facilities.

Other Chat with the Chiefs dates in 2017 include July 26 at the Plainfield Police Department, 14300 Coil Plus Drive, and Oct. 25 at Plainfield fire district headquarters.

New Lenox police, AARP holding class for mature drivers

NEW LENOX – The New Lenox Police Department and the American Association of Retired Persons are sponsoring the AARP Smart Driver Course, according to an event news release.

The program is a review for mature drivers and is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the New Lenox Police Department, 200 Veterans Parkway, New Lenox. Participants must attend both days.

The course covers defensive driving techniques, proven safety strategies, and new traffic laws and rules of the road. There are no tests to pass. Upon completion, participants could receive a multi-year discount on car insurance. Those who are interested should contact their insurance agent for details.

Cost for the program is $15 for AARP members and $20 for nonmembers. Payment is made on the first day of class. No payments will be taken ahead of time.
