JOLIET – The Joliet Slammers, who open their Frontier League season Friday as part of a three-game weekend series at Lake Erie, will have their home opener Tuesday night against the Traverse City Beach Bums.
Tickets on opening day at Slammers Stadium in downtown Joliet are $2 as part of the Slammers’ $2 Tuesday promotion.
Eleven home games are scheduled in May. Promotions include three education days on May 17, 18 and 24. All education-day games begin at 10:05 a.m.
The first fireworks night of the season is scheduled May 19 on Superhero Night. Superheroes, provided by Magic, Music and More, include Spider-Man, Captain America, Wonder Woman and Mrs. Incredible. Superheroes will be at the stadium for autographs and pictures. Fans are encouraged to dress up for the evening and any fans that participate will receive a free small drink voucher. A postgame fireworks show will follow.
Bike Night will be held May 25. A parade around the field with motorcycles from the Christian Motorcycle Association will occur pregame.
Thursdays will feature $2 drink specials for the Slammers Thirsty Thursday promotion presented by Bud Light. Drink specials include $2 Budweiser, Bud Light and Pepsi products.
Teacher Appreciation Night is set for May 30. Teachers can bring their school ID to enter into a teacher-only raffle, and tickets are $2 on Tuesdays.
