JOLIET - Police say a Manhattan man left a puppy in a hot car Saturday evening.
Deputy Chief Ed Gregory said it was 86 degrees at 6:39 p.m. when officers were called to a report of a dog in a car parked outside the Walmart on Route 59.
"A small mixed puppy was jumping up and down inside the the vehicle which had the windows slightly cracked (open)," Gregory said. "There was no water in the car and it was a high temperature inside."
When Theodore Scheidt, 61, returned to the vehicle he was issued a compliance ticket for cruelty to animals, Gregory said.
