Woman hit by a car in Joliet on Friday

JOLIET - A 41-year-old woman was hit by a car Friday night at the intersection of Larkin Avenue and Theodore Street after she reportedly crossed the street against the light.

According to Joliet Police Chief Brian Benton, at around 8:30 p.m., the woman and another pedestrian were crossing the street when a driver did not see her and hit her. She was transported to St. Joseph Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to a witness named Shelli Blenck, she, her husband Isaac and another woman stopped to help the woman who was hit. Blenck said the woman had a head injury.

The driver of the car did stop and talk to police. Benton said he did not know of the woman's condition as of Sunday afternoon.
