The state plans to close some northbound lanes on a section of Interstate 55 north of Weber Road this weekend.
Lane closures start at 9 p.m. Friday and run until 5 a.m. Monday, depending on the weather, the Illinois Department of Transportation said in a news release.
A lane will be closed between Weber and Willow Springs roads. A left lane will be closed between Interstate 355 and County Line Road. Additional lane closures may be necessary during nighttime hours, IDOT said.
The closures are part of a larger project to improve I-55 between Weber and Willow Springs roads in Bolingbrook, Woodridge, Romeoville, Darien, Burr Ridge and Willowbrook. The scope of the project includes resurfacing, roadway patching, bridge deck repairs, drainage improvements and traffic management upgrades.
The overall project is expected to be completed in the fall.
IDOT advised drivers to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, to obey the posted speed limits, and to be on the alert for workers and equipment.
