NEW LENOX – Three men who broke into Totally Tobacco and stole cartons of cigarettes early Friday morning were apprehended by police.

In the hour of 5 a.m., three men in their early 20s had smashed the front door glass of Totally Tobacco, 11234 Lincoln Highway, Mokena, said Mokena Police Commander Randy Stumpf. Stumpf said the men took cartons of cigarettes and took off in a small passenger car.

Police reportedly obtained information on the crooks' getaway car from an eyewitness. A New Lenox police officer saw the vehicle and stopped it near Interstate 80 and Route 30 in the village, Stumpf said. Other New Lenox police officers assisted with the traffic stop while the men were taken into custody by Mokena police, he said.

Stumpf could give no information on the identities of the alleged thieves but three men were arrested by the Mokena police and booked into the Will County jail Friday on burglary and theft charges. Justin McClelland, 27, of Chicago, Tony Woodson, 21, of Willowbrook, and Joshua Williams, 21, of Chicago all were scheduled to appear in court Saturday morning for a hearing to set bond.

Williams was also charged with criminal damage to property.
