Will County Habitat for Humanity will hold ‘Home for the Hounds’

The Will County Habitat for Humanity will host its second annual Home for the Hounds event on Saturday, Sept. 9.

Local businesses, organizations, schools and families have worked together to build homes for dogs. You can come with your dog — as long as it's on a leash — to shop for homes.

And not only can you buy a doghouse, there will also be dogs available for adoption from PAWS of Tinley Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Cheri Johnson from the Will County States Attorney’s office will be there with special advocate dogs.

You can meet veterans from K9 for Veteran Warriors and their dogs, and there will be several NASCAR racing cars at the event.

The doghouses will be on display at ReStore for two weeks after the event.

The public can vote for and bid on their favorite doghouses on Facebook or in person at ReStore. Any houses not bought will be donated to the Will County Humane Society.

Proceeds support K’9s for Veteran Warriors, PAWS of Tinley Park and Habitat for Humanity.

The ReStore location for the event is at 1395 N. Larkin Ave. in Joliet. The event will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the ReStore.

You can call (815) 714-7011 for more information.
