Man buys a replacement for Morris child whose bike was stolen

A man named Dana purchased a new bike for a 10-year-old who's bike was stolen earlier this week.
A man named Dana purchased a new bike for a 10-year-old who's bike was stolen earlier this week.

MORRIS – The Morris Police Department posted a follow-up on Friday to its information on a bicycle that was stolen, which belonged to a 10-year-old boy who lived at Ravine Woods Apartments on Ottawa Bend Drive.

Police said they received a call from a man named Dana who said he saw their original post on Facebook. Dana said that he had children, too, and did not want to see any kid without a bike.

Dana then went to the Walmart in Morris, bought the exact same type of bike that was stolen, which Walmart gave him a discount on, as well as a bike lock and a gift card for the family.

The post said police received calls from Operation St. Nick and other friends of the department wanting to help. The boy originally received the bike from the nonprofit fundraiser.

"Thank you to the callers, Operation St. Nick, Walmart and especially Dana!" the post read. "Our 10 year old is back in business! #ilovemorris."
