Lincoln-Way Central student Ethan Fazio attended the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar on June 2 at Benedictine University in Lisle, along with several other sophomores in his class.
The seminar ran from June 2 through June 4. Students attended to learn about implementing their own leadership personalities into Lincoln-Way Central, their community and their activities.
Fazio learned about the opportunity through his Pupil Purpose Services counselor. Students who wished to attend were asked to write an essay reflecting on the definition of leadership, including examples of how they could be leaders in their own communities. A number of sophomores competed for a sponsorship offered by the Mokena Women’s Club, and Fazio was chosen as the winner; his winning essay allowed him to attend the seminar at no cost.
The HOBY Leadership Seminar aims to recognize the students’ leadership capabilities and talents through activities that allow the sophomores to discover their personal leadership potential.
Each sophomore was asked to join the HOBY Leadership Seminar to become active, ethical leaders in their homes, schools and communities.
