Athena Award to be presented to Pritz-Bornhofen

JOLIET – Sue Pritz-Bornhofen, a co-owner of the Jacob Henry Mansion Estate, will be be presented The Athena Award on Wednesday.

The Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry and The Council for Working Women will present the award at a luncheon at the Mistwood Golf Club in Romeoville.

Pritz-Bornhofen is the 30th recipient of the award, which is presented to leaders who demonstrate high levels of professional excellence, contribute to their communities, and assist women in realizing leadership potential, according to a news release from the Joliet chamber.

The chamber noted that Pritz-Bornhofen, as co-owner of the Jacob Henry Mansion Estate, works with many women in hosting events for organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters,, Boys & Girls Club and Easter Seals. She has also been involved with the Will County Regional Office of Education for its Girls Leadership Conference.

"My passion is helping these women and organizations make their event successful and as beneficial to the community as possible," Pritz-Bornhofen said in the news release. "My goal is to approach fundraisers, not from a profit standpoint, but to help maximize the organizations' goals while keeping their contributions in the community."

Pritz-Bornhofen also noted that three generations of women have been involved in the family ownership and operation of Jacob Henry Mansion Estate, including: her mother, Carol Pritz; sister, Ann Doll; and four daughters, Elisabeth, Sarah, Amanda and Anna.

Pritz-Bornhofen and the family owners of the Jacob Henry Mansion Estate have received a number of awards, including the Joliet chamber's 2005 Outstanding Small Business Award for Professional Business Service, Catersource Small Business Award in 2008, and "Best of the Knot" Wedding Service & Venue award for the last eight years.

She has been a member of numerous local organizations, including Kiwanis International, Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center Foundation Board, and Guardian Angel Community Services Board.
