JOLIET – The Joliet City Council could vote Tuesday to authorize a contract for a new city manager.
The contract resolution is on the agenda for a workshop meeting Monday and the regular meeting Tuesday, when a vote would be taken.
Interim City Manager Marty Shanahan previously has said that the City Council would meet in closed session after the Monday meeting to discuss the city manager search.
Shanahan would not comment Friday on whether a contract will be ready for the Tuesday meeting.
“Nothing has been submitted,” he said.
Sources have said that the city already has begun negotiations with David Hales, the city manager in Bloomington, for the Joliet job. Shanahan has not applied for the job. Hales would replace Jim Hock, who retired in May.
