PLAINFIELD - Talks between the Plainfield District 202 and the Association of Plainfield Teachers (APT) leadership began Thursday night with a federal mediator.
Statements from both sides shared positive feelings about reaching an agreement.
"The tone and content of the conversation were professional and progress continues to be made toward an agreement," read a statement District 202 spokesperson Tom Hernandez.
Talks will continue with another session scheduled for Tuesday, October 24. Updates will be provided as appropriate.
APT President Dawn Bullock said the sides are fairly close in terms of teacher salaries over the proposed five-year contract. They are still working through the details of the last few years of a deal.
"We feel we are in the ballpark," Bullock said in a statement. "Now we just have to find our seats."
The District 202 Board of Education will meet in regular session on Monday, October 23 at the District 202 Administration Center at 15723 Howard Street in Plainfield. The public session begins at 7:30 p.m.
