Chris Kennedy, the Chicago businessman running for governor, will be in Joliet for a “meet and greet” with his running mate, Ra Joy, on Sunday.
Kennedy is the son of Robert Kennedy, the former U.S. attorney general and senator, and the nephew of President John F. Kennedy. He moved to Illinois after he graduated from Boston College to begin his business career, earned his MBA at Northwestern University and has served as chairman of the board of trustees for the University of Illinois.
Joy, Kennedy’s running mate for lieutenant governor, is the former executive director of CHANGE Illinois (Coalition for Honest and New Government Ethics), a nonpartisan coalition aiming for systemic reform of government. He also was the head of Arts Alliance Illinois, a prominent arts advocacy and service organization where he led statewide and citywide arts initiatives. Joy also was a senior aide to U.S. Rep. Jan Schakowsky, D-Evanston.
Kennedy and Joy will be at Vela’s Tap at 226 E. Cass St. in Joliet from 3 to 5:30 p.m.
