JOLIET – More than 775 Sator Sanchez Elementary School students in kindergarten through fifth grade celebrated Veterans Day during a recent school assembly.

Two Vietnam veterans, Commander of the Cantigny Post 367 Joliet VFW Lou Smith of Joliet and Army veteran Misael Ramirez of Burbank, Illinois, were on hand to share the importance of Veterans Day and meet the students.

The first-grade students sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” and the second-grade students performed “This Is My Country” during the assembly. Students from the color guard from the JROTC from Joliet Central High School, under the supervision of Lt. Colonel Benjamin White, and Joliet West High School, under the supervision of Staff Sgt. Calvin Lee, were also in attendance.
