JOLIET – A new store opens next week downtown.

Joy's Boutique, a women's clothing store, has moved from a West Side location on Black Road and will have a ribbon cutting at noon on Tuesday.

"It's a bigger location," store Manager Wendell Tucker said of the new store at 76 N. Chicago St. "We think we can have a better opportunity being here in downtown Joliet."

Joy's Boutique is located in a storefront spot of the Barber Building, which downtown developer Mike Petry is renovating into apartments on the upper floors. The renovation project is supported by city funding that includes a loan and Tax Increment Financing incentives.

Tucker's wife, Joyce Tucker, is the owner of the store, which is beginning its third year of business.

The store features unique women's fashions, clothing and accessories, many of which are from California designers, Wendell Tucker said. Because of the larger location, he said they are considering adding men's clothing to the store at some point.
