JOLIET – Joliet Central High School alumnus Adan Estrada, Class of 2012, returned to his alma mater and shared his professional culinary arts expertise with Joliet Central teacher Rochelle Bjelland’s culinary arts classes on Nov. 17.
Estrada explained that, after exploring his interests in the culinary arts as a high school student, he has studied diligently in the Joliet Junior College Culinary Arts program and is now employed as a culinary arts lab assistant in the JJC city center campus.
During his visit, Adan demonstrated how to prepare a risotto dish. The students were excited to see the demonstration, especially as many of them were unfamiliar with risotto.
Estrada brought his own fresh ingredients and explained the science, creativity, and techniques related to the dish he was preparing. He also talked about his experiences in the culinary arts program and answered student questions.
