JOLIET – The fine arts department of Joliet Junior College presents its 40th Annual Madrigal Concert, “MadriGala 2017: Something Olde, Something Yule”, at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8 in the Fine Arts Theatre on the main campus, 1215 Houbolt Road, Joliet.
MadriGala 2017 will feature merry madrigals and carols, pageantry, dance, and humor performed by the JJC Chamber Singers, Brass Quintet and Jesters. Special guests will be the Troy Choir Winter Carolers from William B. Orenic Intermediate School in Plainfield.
Between the two halves of the concert, a selection of savory hors d’oeuvres and delightful desserts will be served on the bridge, prepared by the nationally acclaimed Joliet Junior College culinary arts department’s Epicurean Club under the supervision of Chef Fred Ferrara.
Philip Spencer, director of choral and vocal music at JJC since 2001, serves as musical director of MadriGala. He is also conductor of the JJC Chamber Singers, the college’s auditioned choral ensemble, which will perform a number of traditional madrigals as well as seasonal carols from around the world in several languages.
The JJC brass quintet,under the direction of Charles Morgan, director of bands and brass, will provide Renaissance and seasonal instrumental music during the reception. The MadriGala staff also includes Nicki Blowers, stage manager and drama director.
Tickets for this evening of musical and culinary delights are just $15 per person.

The deadline for purchasing advance tickets is Dec.6. Seating in the Fine Arts Theatre is limited and assigned according to the date when payment is received. A few tickets may also be available at the door.
