BOLINGBROOK – Gov. Bruce Rauner will be the special guest at a luncheon with multiple Chambers of Commerce on Tuesday at the Bolingbrook Golf Club.
The Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce, Romeoville Chamber of Commerce, Lemont Chamber of Commerce and Chamber 630 will be in attendance.
Tickets for future members of one of the chambers in attendance are $45. Members can pay $35.
The event has drawn some resistance as a “Protest Governor Ruiner” Facebook event was created by a group called Friends Who March, a grass-roots organization that came out of the Women’s March in January after the inauguration of President Donald Trump.
“Our governor is making an appearance at a Chamber of Commerce Luncheon,” the event details read. “So we will be there to let him know his days are numbered. Bring your flannels and duct tape so you’re just like him.”
The flannels and duct tape are a reference to a political advertisement Rauner made saying that the duct tape was the solution to the state’s problems that the “politicians that got us into this mess” have.
No walk-ins will be allowed. For information or to register for the event, call the Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce at 630-226-8420.
The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
