JOLIET – A Joliet man was arrested after he allegedly got into a fight with his ex-girlfriend over a laptop tablet and then damaged a car, police said.
During the argument at close to noon Monday, Hiram Medina-Oquendo, 28, of the 1100 block of Elizabeth Street, allegedly hit his 31-year-old girlfriend in the face with an open hand, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said.
Medina-Oquendo then allegedly went to a car parked in front of his home on Elizabeth Street and puncture the rear passenger tire with a knife, causing it to go flat, Gregory said.
He then reportedly took a rock to the driver’s-side door of the car and caused a dent.
Officers were called to the scene and located Medina-Oquendo at the corner of Hutchins and Vine streets, Gregory said.
Medina-Oquendo was charged with domestic battery and criminal damage to property. He was booked into the Will County jail.
