The Morris Theatre Guild taking reservations for winter production

MORRIS –The Morris Theatre Guild, Inc. has begun rehearsals and is taking reservations for its winter production of Samuel Shem and Janet Surrey's comedy/drama, "Bill W. and Dr. Bob."

Based on the lives of two real people, "Bill W. and Dr. Bob" tells the true story of the founders of Alcoholics Anonymous.

When the stock market crashes in 1929, Bill W. becomes a hopeless drunk, and his wife, Lois, is unable to get him to stop. Meanwhile, Dr. Bob Smith, a surgeon, drinks in secret. He himself is an agnostic, but his wife, Anne, joins the Oxford Group, a real-life group of Christians.

Bill W. and Dr. Bob meet accidentally and a series of completely chance incidents eventually lead to the creation of AA.

The comedy/drama's very talented cast is directed by Jim Welch of Morris and assistant directed by Tim Atchison of Plainfield.

The cast includes both veteran and new guild members, including Joe Baima of Marseilles, Ashley Parker of Mazon, Judy Miller of Morris, and Karianne Dugard, Bill Griffith, and Stephan Spellman, all of Plainfield.

Bill W. and Dr. Bob opens on Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Morris Theatre Guild, Inc.

Additional performances will be held Feb. 10, Feb. 11, Feb.16, Feb. 17 and Feb. 18, 2018.

All Friday and Saturday evening performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. and both Sunday matinee performances will begin at 2:30 p.m. Ticket prices for adults are $12 each if reserved by e-mail, phone, or purchased online, and $15 each if purchased at the door.

For those age 13 and under, or students able to show their ID, the ticket price for e-mail, phone, or online reservations are $10 each. Otherwise, the adult price applies.

Also, groups of ten or more people making a reservation by phone will receive a 10 percent discount off the total ticket price. All seating is based on first come, first served. There are no refunds.
