Two-vehicle crash leaves one in hospital

ROCKDALE – One person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash in Rockdale on Sunday.

Rockdale police, Rockdale firefighters and the Troy Fire Protection District responded shortly before 11 a.m. to the crash at the intersection of Brandon Road and Route 6.

Rockdale Police Chief Robert Dykstra said that a white pick up truck was traveling southbound on Brandon Road when it was struck by a silver Chevrolet SUV going eastbound on Route 6.

The driver of the silver Chevrolet SUV was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center with injuries that were not life threatening. The driver of the pick up truck was OK and refused an ambulance.

Dykstra said that the vehicles were towed and the roads open by about one hour after the accident.

Illinois State Police is handling the investigation of the crash.
