The Will County Board unanimously approved a request to install solar panels at a 48-acre site in Crete Township, said Janine Farrell, development analyst with the county’s Land Use Department.
The solar farm would contain rows of Photovoltaic panels, or arrays, which convert light into electricity.
The applicant for the project is Cypress Creek Renewables.
Cypress Creek Renewables will lease the property from the property owner, according to the Will County Planning and Zoning staff report.
The site will be secured with a 6-foot chain-link fence which will run around the entire perimeter of the facility.
Cypress Creek Renewables will harvest the energy and sell it to Commonwealth Edison.
