NEW LENOX – Flames were visible through the roof of a New Lenox Burger King as firefighters worked to contain a fire there Tuesday night.

New Lenox firefighters responded about 6 p.m. Tuesday to Burger King, 720 W. Maple St. in New Lenox, for a reported structure fire, according to a news release from the New Lenox Fire Protection District.

When the first fire crews arrived on the scene, they saw flames shooting through the building’s roof, and the fire’s alarm level was increased.

Firefighters were able to bring the flames under control in about 20 minutes, and no one was injured in the incident. Everyone who had been inside the fast-food restaurant was able to evacuate.

The building was damaged, but an estimate of the damage’s cost was not yet available Wednesday afternoon.

The fire’s cause is under investigation.

Firefighters from Frankfort, Mokena, Manhattan, East Joliet, Homer, Lockport, Northwest Homer, Palos, Palos Heights, Orland, Elwood, Troy and Peotone assisted New Lenox on the scene.
