JOLIET – A convict on parole allegedly attacked a patron at Hollywood Casino in Joliet and attempted to fight off security guards who tried to intervene, police said.

Shortly after 4 a.m. Thursday, Terrell M. Mason, 33, who has addresses in Romeoville and Chicago, was arrested on charges of aggravated assault and criminal trespass to property after his alleged attack at Hollywood Casino, police said.

Security guards at the 777 Hollywood Blvd. casino reportedly noticed Mason causing a disturbance at a craps table, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said in an email. Mason allegedly punched a 43-year-old man.

When the security guards attempted to intervene, Mason allegedly became combative and tried to strike a 59-year-old security officer, one of two who was on the scene, Gregory said. A security officer blocked the punch Mason threw and then subdued him, he said.

Joliet police officers arrived and arrested Mason on a recognizance bond. He was later booked into the Will County jail for allegedly violating his parole.

Mason served time in prison for criminal drug conspiracy and possession of a controlled substance convictions. He was released from prison July 14 and was to be on parole until Jan. 26, 2019.

The 43-year-old man told police he was not injured and he did not want to press charges.
