JOLIET – A Plainfield man allegedly tried to break into the home of a female acquaintance with whom he had gotten into an argument, police said.
About 10 a.m. Thursday, Alejandro Munoz-Diana, 22, of the 1400 block of Lasser Drive in Plainfield was arrested on a charge of criminal damage to property in connection with the incident. Munoz-Diana was released on his own recognizance.
Joliet police officers were contacted regarding a man later identified as Munoz-Diana allegedly trying to break out the window of a residence near Pandola Avenue and Phoenix Lane, police said. When the officers arrived, they were reportedly provided with a description of the car that Munoz-Diana drove.
The officers stopped Munoz-Diana’s car once it was located. Munoz-Diana was identified by a 19-year-old female acquaintance who lived at the residence Munoz-Diana was trying to break into, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said in an email.
The young woman told officers that she and Munoz-Diana got into an argument prior before the incident, Gregory said. Munoz-Diana also was reportedly seen by officers on home video surveillance trying to break out the front basement window, Gregory said.
