JOLIET – A Shorewood man allegedly entered Harrah’s casino even though he had put himself on a ban list roughly eight years ago, police said.

At close to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Aderemi Akande, 43, of the 1100 block of Trillium Lane, Shorewood, was cited for criminal trespass to property at Harrah’s.

Akande allegedly had “knowingly and without legal authority” entered the 151 N. Joliet St. casino while on a self-exclusionary statewide ban list, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said in an email. Akande had excluded himself and has been on the ban list since 2010.

Akande was issued a citation and he’s scheduled to appear in court on April 12.

Joliet police have cited at least three people last year and this year for trespassing at either the Harrah’s or Hollywood casinos despite being banned.

On Oct. 2, Joliet police cited Joanne P. Delaney, 73, of Lemont, for allegedly trespassing at Hollywood Casino after she banned herself. On Dec. 9 and Jan. 30, police cited Patricia A. Hosey, 52, of Joliet, and Li Wai Cho, 60, of Chicago, respectively, for trespassing despite being on self-imposed ban lists.
