The snowy weather Friday not only closed schools throughout the Joliet area, but it forced numerous athletic events to be postponed.
Among them were the Friday night area boys basketball games. Plainfield North and Romeoville moved their game ahead to Thursday night to beat the weather, with North winning, 57-53. But the four other games in the Southwest Prairie Conference – Minooka at Joliet Central, Joliet West at Plainfield South, Plainfield East at Oswego and Plainfield Central at Oswego East – were postponed and rescheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start Feb. 22.
Elsewhere in the area, Joliet Catholic's home date with St. Patrick was moved to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Morris' visit to DeKalb was moved to 1 p.m. Saturday. Thornton now is scheduled to visit Lincoln-Way Central at 6 p.m. Monday. Lincoln-Way West will entertain Thornridge at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Providence will be at Bishop McNamara at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 17. Lockport will host Homewood-Flossmoor and Bolingbrook will entertain Stagg at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 22.
