JOLIET – The Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry will combine a career fair with its expo for a second consecutive year. The event is from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Louis Joliet Mall.
The chamber holds its annual expo at the Louis Joliet Mall every year, offering exhibitors exposure to the mall’s weekend traffic. The expo hours coincide with mall store hours.
Last year, a career fair was added in light of the high demand for workers among local employers.
“We have a lot of interest in the career fair,” Chamber President Mary Jaworski said. “That really took off last year. The entire Sears wing is for the job fair.”
Some employers do interviews on the spot. Resume help is available. And, a photographer will be there from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday to take head shots for resumes.
About 30 employers have signed up for the job fair. Some of them are the Joliet Township High School District, Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center and Holiday Inn Joliet.
More than 50 expo exhibitors will be there.
A total of 85 booths have been taken by exhibitors and employers with room for only a few more, Jaworski said Wednesday afternoon.
Those interested in a booth can call the Chamber until 3 p.m. Thursday, she said.
The Chamber phone number is 815-727-5371.
“When I was out there yesterday and looking where I could create more space, I found room for some more,” Jaworski said. “I’ve got room for two more at the job fair and two more at the expo.”
Exhibitors come from private business, nonprofit organizations, local government and churches.
Some exhibitors are Americans for Fair Taxation, Cathedral of St. Raymond, Costco Wholesale, Paul and Mike’s Transmissions and Joliet Junior College.
