PEOTONE – A Peotone man allegedly tugged his pregnant girlfriend’s hair and kicked a police officer in the lower groin and knee following his arrest, authorities said.
On Thursday, Peotone police responded to a report of a domestic battery that had allegedly been committed by Zacchaues H. McGuire, 22, of the 500 block of Schroeder Avenue in Peotone.
At least one witness reportedly saw McGuire grab his pregnant 20-year-old girlfriend by the hair and jerk her head around, Peotone Police Chief William Mort said.
McGuire and his girlfriend were at the 900 W. Wilmington Road Casey’s General Store at the time, Mort said.
Police officers went to McGuire’s apartment and arrested him on a charge of domestic battery, he said.
While McGuire was seated in the back of a squad car, he allegedly kicked at the doors. When an officer opened up the door, McGuire allegedly kicked him in the lower groin and knee, Mort said.
McGuire was charged with aggravated battery to a pregnant woman, aggravated battery in a public place, aggravated battery to a police officer and domestic battery.
McGuire was booked into the Will County jail. His bond was set at $15,000.
