JOLIET – A Joliet man was arrested for allegedly punching and choking a family member, police said.
About 6 a.m. Tuesday, Dallas R. McGaughy, 19, of the 500 block of Clay Street, was at a home in the 1000 block of Barthelme Avenue when he punched and choked a 26-year-old male family member, Joliet Deputy Police Chief Ed Gregory said in an email.
The male family member had to be taken to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, Gregory said.
Police responded to the incident and located McGaughy at the intersection of Larkin Avenue and Lois Place.
McGaughy was arrested and charged with aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery and battery. He was booked into the Will County jail, and his bond was set at $75,000.
Last year, McGaughy pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer and criminal trespass to land. In 2014, he was found guilty of violating Joliet’s city curfew ordinance.
