Will County election results: Federal, state and local races

Here are the latest results from the competitive local primary elections on Tuesday that Will County voters cast their ballots on. Vote totals are unofficial and appear as provided by election agencies in Will County and other counties. Not all races were final at time of publication.

Will County voters went to the polls Wednesday to pick federal, state and local office holders.

About 21.58 percent of 431,906 registered voters in Will County turned out to vote.

Turnout for early voting well exceeded that for the 2014 primaries, the last time Illinois voted for a governor. According to Will County Clerk Nancy Schultz Voots, there were 10,830 early votes in Will County this election, compared to 4,161 in 2014. There were also 5,275 mail-in ballots cast this election in the county.

The competitive elections in Will County included the one for Will County Clerk in which Lauren Staley-Ferry won the Democratic nomination over Denise Mushro-Rumchak.

In the Democratic race for Will County Board District 9, the top two vote earners were Rachel Ventura with 26.13 percent and Jim Murphy with 23.64 percent.

David Garcia won the race for the 12th Judicial Circuit Court to replace Judge Dan Rozak with 40.31 percent of the vote. Moira K. Dunn earned 37.25 percent and Daniel O'Connell earned 22.44 percent.
