CREST HILL – Two people were seriously injured early Friday in a single-vehicle crash on Route 53, just north of Caton Farm Road, in Crest Hill.

About 6 a.m., police received a call that a gray Lincoln pickup truck hit a fence and an electrical pole after the driver lost control.

Both the driver and the passenger were taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet with serious injuries, Crest Hill Police Chief Ed Clark said.

The driver, Paul J. Summers, 36, was issued citations for driving with a revoked license and driving under the influence.

Clark said he did not know the identity of the 28-year-old passenger.

He said that both remained in intensive care as of Saturday afternoon.

Crest Hill police were investigating the accident.
