A 20-year-old Kankakee woman and 30-year-old Bradley man died after their vehicle collided with a semitractor-trailer Thursday morning on Interstate 57, north of Peotone Road.

Troopers found an overturned Chevrolet Impala when they responded to the crash about noon Thursday, Illinois State Police said.

The Impala flipped in the southbound lanes after it hit a semitractor-trailer, police said, and both the driver, Jerry McCullum, 30, of Bradley, and passenger, Bryanna Dean, 20, of Kankakee, were ejected.

“The passenger of the Chevrolet was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced deceased,” police said. “The driver of the Chevrolet was airlifted to an area hospital for injuries.”

McCullum later died.

The semitractor-trailer driver was not injured. The driver’s name was not released as of Friday afternoon. Charges were pending, police said.
