ROMEOVILLE – Romeoville police arrested the village’s mayor Thursday and charged him with driving under the influence.
John Noak, 44, was pulled over on Romeoville Road west of Belmont Road hours after he gave Romeoville’s State of the Village address. Police had received a report of a possibly intoxicated driver on Belmont Avenue about 5:46 p.m. Thursday, the department said in a statement.
“A short time later, police officers observed the vehicle traveling westbound on Romeo Road a short distance west of Belmont,” police said. “An officer stopped the vehicle and determined that the driver was impaired.”
Noak was charged with driving under the influence, improper lane use and operating a vehicle without proof of insurance. He was released on bond. Noak did not respond to a voicemail message left Friday afternoon.
